Ringkøbing fjord
Take a bike ride along the fjord from Søndervig to Ringkøbing and experience the beautiful nature. The cycle path, established in 1920, is Denmark’s oldest. In the 1920s, the path was maintained through tolls, where up to 600 cyclists passed the tollhouse on a regular Sunday. Today, you can enjoy the ride for free. Ringkøbing is one of Denmark’s best-preserved market towns. Here, you can explore charming cobbled streets and admire old houses. In the summer, you can also meet the town watchmen, who sing their songs every evening.
Vest Stadil Fjord
If you’re interested in birds, a bike ride to Vest Stadil Fjord is perfect. The area is known for its rich birdlife, especially the many short-billed geese that migrate to and from Svalbard in spring and autumn. You can also see ducks, waders, and swans. Vest Stadil Fjord, surrounded by meadows and reedbeds, offers an open and flat view where you can enjoy the tranquility and beauty of nature.
Bagges Dæmning
For a scenic and unique experience, you can bike across Ringkøbing Fjord via Bagges Dæmning (Bagges dam).This route, located at the northern end of the fjord, takes you over the dam, which is now converted into a bike path with two bridges. Here, you get a magnificent view of the fjord and the surrounding landscape. The route combines history and nature in a way that makes the journey unforgettable.
Beaches
Søndervig Strand is a popular beach in West Jutland, loved by many visitors for its beautiful nature and peaceful atmosphere. Søndervig Beach is certified as a Badepunkt meaning the beach is recognized for its natural beauty and clean bathing water, even though it does not have the extensive facilities required for a Blue Flag certification.
